Can my computer run Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege?

By Cliff Henjum July 10, 2019

First releasing on December 1st, 2015, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege is still a top game in the realm of PC First Person Shooters. It ranked #14 in popularity over the last 30 days on CanYouRUNIt.com with almost 50,000 individual tests! That’s a lot of people asking the question, “Can my PC run Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege?” Join a team of highly trained Special Forces operators armed to the teeth with the most advanced weapons and cutting edge tech. Smash through windows after rappelling from rooftops, blow a hole in the wall to ambush your opponent, or crash through the floors to gain an edge with an unrivaled system for level destruction. It even has an outstanding ratio of Positive Reviews to Negative Reviews on its Steam page.

The official system requirements for Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege are some of the most detailed specs written for any game on the market and features an actual list of supported video cards. On the minimum side of specs needed to run Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege, your video card needs to be at least as strong as a GeForce GTX 460 or a Radeon HD 5870. Both of these GPUs can pass the minimum video card requirement for almost 80% of all PC games. If your CPU was made in the last eight or nine years, it should have no issue passing the minimum CPU test which is set at the Core i3-560 and Phenom II X4 945. With all of the maps, operators, weapons, and cosmetics in R6S, the install size is pretty massive, coming in at a whopping 61 GB! That's still less than the 80 GB needed to install Black Ops 4.

There are a lot of officially supported video cards for R6S so it can be hard to determine which ones will actually enable you to max out the graphics while playing. Ubisoft set the video card requirements for Recommended Settings at the Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 and the AMD Radeon HD 7970. For your CPU, Ubisoft states that you need at least an Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.3 GHz or AMD FX-8120 @ 3.1 Ghz or better. If your computer passes those two tests, and it has at least 8 GB of RAM, then you should have a great experience turning the graphics up while maintaining a high FPS. For an up to date list of supported video cards, you can visit the Ubisoft Support page located here.
