Can my computer run Just Cause 4?
Rico Rodriguez makes an explosive return in Just Cause 4, and this iteration promises to be bigger than ever before. Just Cause 4 is set to release on December 4, 2018 so there’s no better time than now to make sure your PC can run it. Prepare to travel to Solis, South America - a place filled with conflict, oppression, and extreme weather conditions. The addition of extreme weather like tornadoes and tropical lightning storms is one of the main reasons that the system requirements for Just Cause 4 are much more intense than its predecessor, Just Cause 3. You can expect to see your favorite Just Cause stables that we’ve all grown to love like the customizable grapple hook and wingsuit that will set you free as you soar from snow-covered mountains. There is a sizable gap between the minimum system requirements and recommended specs which suggests that Just Cause 4 has a wide variety of graphics options that can be tweaked to increase FPS across many different PCs.
While the minimum system requirements for JC4 are closer to the recommended requirements for JC3, they should (in theory) still be accessible for most modern computers and even some gaming laptops. However, at the time of writing this, roughly only 38% of computers to pass through CanYouRUNIt have been in the green. Avalanche Studios and Square Enix have set the minimum video card requirement at the Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 and the AMD Radeon R9 270. Both of these video cards released in 2013 and are four generations old at this point. You’ll also need a CPU that’s at least as strong as Intel’s Core i5-2400 (Sandy Bridge) or AMD’s FX-6300 (Piledriver). Like the numerous creative ways you can create chaos in Just Cause 4, there are a lot of PC builds between the minimum and and recommended requirements.
Avalanche’s use of their new engine, Apex, enabled the developers to create complex weather systems, smarter NPCs, and an even more realistically destructible environment that will soon be your chaotic playground. The only (small) downside that comes along with these features is the fact that it requires some pretty beefy hardware to really see the full potential. An Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 the least powerful CPUs that will get you on your way to maxing out Just Cause 4 (on anything less than 4K). The recommended video cards for Nvidia and AMD are the GeForce GTX 1070 and the Vega 56, respectively. At this point, these recommended requirements are higher than any other triple A title that is out (or coming out in the near future). Yup. That's right. Just Cause 4 needs a stronger PC than Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 or Battlefield V if you want to play on max settings. One of the only other games with similar requirements is Hitman 2. Needless to say, if this new engine is able to deliver on its promise, playing Just Cause 4 with a high-end PC should be a truly special experience.
